The art of weaving in Calabria historically belongs to every family,
but since the Twenties,
is brought to the splendors of the national
and international market by Maestro Eugenio Celestino.
Eugenio Celestino gave impetus and prestige to the excellent production of fabrics,
enriching the variety and quality of the individual artifacts
and impressing in the textile sector
a turning point to artistic Calabrian.
Around the Fifties,
he inaugurated a course of vocational weaving
through different types of address creative.
Eugenio Celestino is credited with having loved,
valued and preserved the activities of the artistic texture
of excellence in the production and in its vast and admirable promotion.

The Company

The company Celestino, and in the decades to the present day,
has done so in the Tradition brand,
recognized and appreciated at national and international.
Today, the strength of the company meets
the innovative spirit of the younger generation in tissues that,
precisely in the name of artistic tradition,

The textures of fabrics can cross authentically the story of a family and of a cultural identity of Calabria,
enriched by the presence of new products in inevitable and valuable natural fiber,
with refined manufacturing and drawings by Mediterranean colors.

can be seen authentic historical pieces of extraordinary and undeniable charm,
like those of the ancient Krités (Judge),
striking design of Byzantine inspiration.

Drapery

History

Renowned and appreciated at national and international,
the art of weaving in Calabria has ancient origins and is unique.
Developed over centuries of archaic inspiration,
dating back to the time before the Christian era,
it has developed and perfected over time through the use of traditional hand loom,
consisting of four vertical axes around m high. 1.50 and eight horizontal.
The raw materials used are cotton, linen, hemp, wool, broom, silk.
The evocative drawings created on the fabric does not represent a simple embroidery,
being part of the fabric:
the common interweaving of warp and weft inserting a third wire,
the drawing, which runs across the various warp threads.
The processing,
the reasons and the variety of colors of the drawings are the result of ancient traditions,
artistically contaminated by contact with the culture of other peoples,
especially the Turkish,
according to the legend of women taken prisoner
and returned enriched experiences textiles gained overseas.
Various designs, therefore,
are inspired in part the ancient tradition in part to the imagination
and to the multiple grounds of nature,
so as to generate a varied number of models reproduced in a very wide range of colors.
